Coronavirus schedule changes and guidance

This alert was updated 8/10/20/20

  1. Some bus service times have been curtailed:
    • Burlington LINK will not run on Saturdays
  2. Bus rides will be by appointment only. To request a ride, call 388-2287 during office hours, 7am – 6pm weekdays.  Please call one day ahead of needed service.  Trips for Monday must be scheduled on Friday.
  3. You will be prescreened by a ride coordinator prior to your trip.
  4. Please call us again if your health changes between the time of your ride screening and the time of your pick-up.
  5. You must wear a face covering, maintain social distance of at least 6′ and practice safe hygiene during your trip.  Face covering may be a cloth, scarf or mask that covers your nose and mouth and fits snugly but comfortably against the sides of your face.

Tri-Valley Transit is carefully monitoring local and national guidance regarding the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19).  The following guidelines have been provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

How you can stop the spread of germs in public places

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Don’t touch your face in public
  • Cough/sneeze into a tissue (or your elbow if no tissue available)
  • Throw tissues in the trash and sanitize hands as soon as possible
  • Wash hands with soap and water or use sanitizer when you reach your destination

What TVT is doing to help 

  • Emptying trash receptacles daily
  • Daily disinfection of bus handrails and seats with recommended strength bleach solution
  • Immediately isolating biological spills/messes for sanitizing
  • Making all routes FARE-FREE until further notice as a precaution

Update: HOPE has asked us not to serve the Community Services Building between the hours of 10am and 2pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please call us at 388-2287 if you have no other way to pick up your prearranged food parcel.

  • Passengers aged 6-17, age 60+ or with an ADA disability are eligible for ½ fare. Passengers can self-report their age or disability.

General Fare Info

  • Fares are collected on all ACTR bus routes except on the Middlebury Shuttle Bus and within the Fare-Free Zone (FFZ) in Middlebury
  • Only exact change, ACTR tokens or passes accepted on all buses. GMT buses do not accept ACTR tokens.
  • No fare; no ride

  • Deviations & Request Only Stops (R)

    Some ACTR stops along a route are listed as “R” or Request Only – either all of the time or during some parts of the day. Request Only stops follow the pick-up or drop-off procedures below, stopping at the nearest safe location.

    ACTR buses also deviate up to ½ mile (¼ mile for Rutland Connector and the Saturday Burlington LINK) from the published routes to pick up or drop off passengers.

    If the request for Deviation or Request Only pick-ups or drop-offs cannot be accommodated at the desired schedule time, per Federal Law, ACTR will provide the service up to 1 hour before or after the requested time.

    There are no deviations on the CCTA 116 Commuter or the Mon-Fri Burlington LINK routes.

    To request a DROP OFF

    Upon boarding, please let your driver know you would like a Deviation or a Request Only drop off. The driver will let you know if this can be accommodated right away or on the next loop. All attempts to accommodate requests will be made.

    To request a PICK UP

    All Pick Ups – whether a Deviation or Request Only Bus Stop – must be requested by calling the ACTR one business day (24 hours) in advance, or on Fridays for a Monday pick up.

    Dispatch staff will take the information, review the bus schedule and determine a Pick Up time. Per Federal Law, the ride will be accommodated either up to one hour before or one hour after the requested time. ACTR dispatch staff is available by phone between 7 am and 5 pm Monday – Friday.

  • Fare-Free Zone (FFZ)

    All ACTR bus routes allow for fare-free rides within the defined Fare-Free Zone (FFZ). The boundaries of the FFZ are the footprint of the Middlebury Shuttle route, Bridge School on Exchange Street to the North, Blue Spruce Motel on Route 7 to the South and Lindale Circle on Route 116 to the East.

  • Token Program

    ACTR partners with local Human Service Agencies to provide tokens for riders in lieu of fares. ACTR tokens are accepted for one-way trips on all ACTR bus routes and the MVRTD Rutland Connector. CCTA buses do not accept tokens. To determine eligibility for the token program, contact a Human Service Agency or call 211 to learn more about community resources.
